The path to maturity of Australia’s cybersecurity capacity should encourage confidence in the online environment and foster meaningful access by all groups in society.

To achieve this, and create trust and enhance cybersecurity, Australia needs to develop and mobilise the capabilities of a cross-sectoral network of partners from business, government, the entrepreneurial ecosystem (including startups and investors), international organisations, academia and civil society.

In addition, fostering a vibrant and growing startup community remains critical for Australia’s long term economic interests. Startup communities are springing up all over the globe, and the cities and countries that capitalise on the opportunity will be best positioned to capture the economic value that will inevitably follow.

Pitcher Partners’ International Institute of Entrepreneurship is delighted to host Scott Handsaker, CEO of cybersecurity accelerator CyRise, and Leni Mayo, CEO and co-founder of Influx in a moderated discussion on how building trust-based networks between business and industry, and entrepreneurs - in particular - to mitigate potential threats, foster access, drive innovation and grow the economy is crucial for this effort.

As Scott says of CyRise, “This is an experiment which we really wanted to make happen. Bringing corporates and startups together in a learning environment is good for everyone. Collaboration is hard. We want to make that step a little less mysterious and daunting for both sides.”

This will be a moderated conversation supported by Rob McKie and Eric Eekhof, of Pitcher Partners.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided from 12:15pm for a 12:30pm start.
